Time for Something New

My mission is to write for, talk to and coach people who are interested in building healthy and balanced lives, with an emphasis on weight loss. Here are the 5 foundational beliefs of my work:

  1. Weight loss and maintenance requires you to commit. You can diet and lose weight, but if you want lasting change, you need to be willing to not only change what you eat but also take an honest look at your life, and to decide what you are willing to do to make the changes you want.

  2. Food is powerful - it can be the best medicine, or have a profoundly negative impact on your health. There are widely respected guidelines for healthy eating that inform my advice to clients as they change their diets.

  3. You are smart. You can figure out how to eat in a way that works for what you want in your life. It is okay to follow a program if it doesn’t feel punishing, or unsustainable. Otherwise, take small steps to modify your eating in a way that feels empowering.

  4. Your personal power to change your life is vast and unmatched. If YOU want change, YOU have to do the work and find resources to help you get to where you want to be.

  5. You can change your life by making one small change, now. Then another small change, then another.

Coaching individuals over Zoom has been a great opportunity, but now that we can be in person again, I want to start in person, small group coaching. I want to create a group(s) that helps people feel connected and powerful. I want to create a group(s) to bring ideas and information to people and to encourage them as they change. I want to create a group(s) where the discussion is not about calories but how we can move away from choices that do not serve us, and towards healthier habits and choices. I want to create a group(s) where people feel comfortable, heard, and supported.

What will this group(s) look like? Who knows? I have a vision of what I want to groups to accomplish - it is the logistics that are the puzzle right now. I have been inviting people to let me know if they would be interested in such a group by messaging me through my social media accounts. How about you?
