Spring Cleaning
A different way to think about goals.
In this space I write frequently about mental and physical health and wellness goals, but just as often we have goals for our relationships, our living spaces and our work. Goals are important, they help us get to where we want to go or they may inspire us and bring clarity to a task or a long journey of some sort. But our goals can also make us feel worn out or unsuccessful. The word itself can feel burdensome and daunting.
What if we reframed our goals in a way that was not so heavy and infused with such importance? What if we thought of tiny objectives, or medium sized outcomes that could bring joy or fun into a corner of our lives, or some peace, or maybe a small sense of accomplishment?
Feeling a bit in a rut, here are the generic questions I am asking myself to shake off some cobwebs:
What would feel like a good addition to what I am already doing?
Where do I need to refocus?
What is something new to try?
What is something to let go of?
What can I do that would make me feel more connected?
What feels stale?
Where could I use a little joy or whimsy?
What do I love to do that I have stopped doing and how can I bring it back?
Think of it as a form of spring cleaning and use these questions to bring something fun or cheerful or exciting into your days.
